Grande bandits take $26,000

Bandits made a hole in a wall in the Revenue District Office in Sangre Grande early yesterday, cut open a vault inside and escaped with $26,000.

A manager at the revenue office at Damarie Hill, Guaico, Sangre Grande locked up around 4.30 pm on Wednesday, but on returning around 7.30 am yesterday, discovered a hole on the southern side of the building. The vault had been cut open using a blowtorch and $26,000 was missing, along with a cheque for $30,000.

Sangre Grande police were called.
