Thieves make off with two safes with over $300,000

Central Division police are investigating two burglaries in which safes at business places were removed and cash stolen.

In the first incident, the manager at the Cunupia branch of KFC left at about 1.30 am on Monday and returned at 6.45 am the same day when she found the safe, containing $34,000, was missing.

She reported it to Cunupia police who were viewing CCTV footage yesterday to assist them in their investigation.

In the second incident, the manager of Extreme Hangers, a restaurant near the Divali Nagar site, discovered a safe containing $300,000 missing.

Chaguanas police are investigating. Police believe the same people who carried out the robbery at the Cunupia branch of KFC may be linked to the Extreme Hangers robbery.

They are advising the business community to put additional security measures in place.
