Teen found with machine gun

An 18-year-old man was arrested after being found with a machine gun and a quantity of marijuana in the Central Division.

Police said officers of the Central Division Area South were carrying out an exercise from 2-8 pm on Sunday. The exercise also included members of the Couva CID and the Court and Process Branch. They acted on information which led them to Cedar Hill Road, Claxton Bay. During a search, they found a Mac 10 sub-machine gun, 73 rounds of 9 mm ammunition and 33 rounds of .40 ammunition and 2.1 kilogrammes of marijuana estimated at about $21,000.

The teenager, who was in the house at the time, was arrested in connection with the discovery and is expected to be charged with firearm, ammunition and marijuana possession.
