Killers wanted sou sou money

Homicide detectives are investigating a sou sou link in the murder of 25-year-old Balmain doubles vendor Nishad Amrit Radhay who was shot dead inside his home on Wednesday morning as he was preparing doubles for the day’s sales.

Sources say Radhay had collected a sou sou hand the day before and the killers demanded the money from the family.

At about 2am on Wednesday, the two killers stormed the house at Cameron Street, Balmain, Couva as Radhay was preparing channa and shot him in the head. His parents, on hearing the commotion, went outside to see what was happening and were accosted by the men who robbed them of cash and jewelry.Radhay previously worked as an administrative assistant at the Couva South constituency office of MP Rudranath Indarsingh. Last month, he competed in the UWI half marathon. He was also planning to get married next month. Head of the Central Division Snr. Supt Kenny Mc Intyre said police are working hard to bring the killers to justice.
