Relatives of wounded WPC Roxanne Sealy yesterday confirmed it was a severe stroke which prompted her being moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mt Hope on Tuesday.

Newsday spoke to a close relative who said that while Sealy remains unresponsive, her husband is optimistic that his wife will make a full recovery and has been by her side every day since she was shot in September.

She also said acting Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams has been in close contact with hospital staff and intended to have Sealy moved to another ward, but this was not followed through, as doctors feared moving her could worsen her condition.

Sealy also lost one kidney and her spleen after being shot in the San Juan Police Station in late September.
