Trade Minister meets with horse racing stakeholders

Trade and Industry Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon has met with stakeholders in the horseracing industry recently in an attempt to bring the Sport of Kings back to sufficiency.

At a meeting with members of the Betting Levy Board, Trinidad and Tobago Racing Authority, owners, trainers and the Arima Race Club, as decision ws taken to plans to lift the industry back to stability.

A further meeting to discuss these plans has been scheduled for December 17.

Local horseracing has been going through a most difficult period, during which stakes money had to be drastically slashed with the prestigious Trinidad Derby takes reduced from $500,000 to $350,00.
