Local Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fans can look forward to a night of thrills and excitement next Saturday as 20 fighters gather at the Cascadia Hotel in Port of Spain to do battle for three titles at the 13th annual Caribbean Ultimate Fist Fighting (CUFF) tournament.

Newsday spoke to CUFF’s owner and coordinator Adam Chin Leung yesterday, who said that while the tournament has been slightly scaled down in terms of its cost, fans can still look forward to a memorable night as 10 local martial artists are expected to showcase their fighting ability against top international contenders.

“We wanted to provide a show for our local and international fans before the end of the year, and we intend to deliver on our promise. What we’ll be doing new is that we will be including an amateur title for newcomers as well as a cadet amateur bout to feature some of the more up and coming stars to the sport. We’re all very excited because we have continued to gather support not only on a regional circuit but an international one as well.”

Among the fighters carded for Saturday’s bouts are local MMA star Joash Walkins who will be contesting for a title against Canadian powerhouse Mike McAloon. Promising fighter Kadaine Hope takes on Brett Hogg for the Bantamweight title.

Persons interested in attending can contact Adam Chin Leung at 290-3656.
