Despite claims from the relatives of deceased inmate Michael George, of foul play, there will be no increases in patrols or monitors at the nation's prisons, this according to Acting Prisons Commissioner William Alexander yesterday.

Newsday spoke to Alexander who said that while George's death was unfortunate, there are no immediate plans for increasing patrols or more routine check-ups on inmates. He said that George's autopsy confirmed that he had died from natural causes, arising out of multiple blood-clots and said that despite this incident, prison officers continue to work towards providing a safe and secure prison environment for both inmates and officers alike.

George an inmate of the Golden Grove Maximum Security Prison in Arouca, was found dead in his cell on Monday with no obvious marks of violence on the body. George, 29, was serving a prison sentence for the murder of Aaron Kim Goorachan.
