Cariah reprimanded for breach of conduct

Cricket West Indies confirmed on Wednesday that Trinidad and Tobago left-hand batsman Yannic Cariah was reprimanded for a breach of the Code of Conduct during the third round of matches which ended on Sunday in the Digicel 4-Day Championship.

Cariah was reported by on-field umpires Danesh Ramdhanie and Gregory Brathwaite, along with reserve umpire Kellman Kowlessar, for a Level 1 breach of the Code of Conduct during the match between Red Force and Windward Islands Volcanoes at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Match referee Michael Ragoonath reprimanded Cariah, after he breached paragraph 1.3 of the Code of Conduct by using language that was obscene, offensive or insulting, when he yelled an expletive after being dismissed caught in the 44th over of the Red Force first innings, one run short of a half-century.

The player admitted to the offence and accepted the imposition of the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing.
