Police constable escapes death

A police constable assigned to the Central Division’s Crime Patrol Unit, narrowly escaped serious injuries when he was grazed by a bullet while responding to a report of a robbery at a Chaguanas home.

At about 1.30 am, PC Maraj responded to the report at Edinburgh 500 and upon arrival at the house, he was greeted with the sound of rapid gunfire and upon checking felt a burning sensation on his back and realised that he was grazed. At the time, PC Maraj was wearing a bullet-proof vest. He was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where he was treated and discharged.

Other officers responded to the report and carried out a search for the suspect but no one was not found.
