Panday must take back UNC

THE EDITOR: The United National Congress (UNC), in my opinion, needs fixing and it is only the original owner who can make repairs.

I have no doctorate and I am unqualified as a political analyst. Call my opinion rum shop talk if you will but I am of the view that a strong opposition party is needed in TT. The UNC’s political baggage is so heavily packed with unwanted allegations that there is no way this passenger can pass through customs unchallenged and with nothing to declare.

Panday has a daughter who is qualified to lead a new UNC or be part of a reincarnation. Are they both waiting for the UNC to disintegrate totally? What about political leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar? Is she going to let the UNC constitution prevent her from getting what she wants?

Vasant Bharath, the main contender, boasts of clandestine support from within the party, a boast that appears quite believable. This is the crux of the matter. I am waiting for Prakash Ramadhar, the roving MP who serves the UNC via safe temporary seats, to show his face. I am presuming he will be negotiating for any of the safe UNC seats.
