Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley will visit Beijing at month-end in a group of ten national leaders chosen for high-level meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and then to do a State visit to other areas of China..

This, from Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart Young at yesterday’s post-Cabinet news briefing at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s.

The Prime Minister’s wife, Sharon Rowley, will be in his delegation.

The meetings will take place from November 30 to December 3 and State visit will last from December 4 to 9.

“The Chinese Government recognises the importance Trinidad and Tobago is playing in the region,” Young said.

“The Government is re-building its relationship with countries and within Caricom. So this invitation is China’s recognition of TT.” He said the invitation to Rowley arose from China’s recent leadership convention.
