Bible marathon set for Jan 1-5, 2018

The Tobago Bible Marathon and other Christian events are a stepping stone towards the growth of the island’s tourism.

At the launch of the 5th Bible Marathon last Thursday, Pastor Rawle Reid of the Open Bible Standard Church at Mt Grace and member of the Tobago Bible Marathon committee, said gospel has the strength to make the island a preferred destination in the Caribbean for Christian events.

At a press conference at the Scarborough New Testament church, Reid said, the bible marathon, which involves reading from Genesis to Revelations non-stop, could mean a great revival for the island, with people from all over the world coming for the “where churches will become institutions to really boost tourism in Tobago.”

The 2018 bible marathon begins on January 1 at 5pm at the Scarborough New Testament Church, with volunteers reading nonstop – over an estimated 94 hours – to compete the reading on January 5.

“Every time we host this even something dynamic happens, something supernatural takes place in the life of people and in the world. I’m inviting all churches and everyone in the public to come be a part of this experience and something great will happen in your life and in this nation,” he said.
