Lawrence in Subway U-16 semis

Emily Lawrence booked her spot in the Girls Under-16 Singles semi-finals of the Subway Junior Tennis Tournament yesterday with a clinical straight sets win over Aralia Blackman at the Trinidad Country Club, Maraval. Lawrence took the first set 6-2 and sealed the second by an identical score to progress to the last four.

Also making it into the semis was Fabiana Guedez who romped to a first set win over Fabiana Mata Brewer 6-2 but was tested in the second but still managed to prevail 7-6 (2).

In the Boys Under-14 quarter-finals, David Rodriguez held off Charles Devaux in two sets 6-2, 7-6 (4) to move one step closer to the title. Also, Ethan Wong dropped just two games in taking care of Sebastian Sylvester 6-0, 6-2; Luca Shamsi advanced to the semi-finals with a comfortable 6-2, 6-1 victory over Alex-Jaden Durand; Kyle Kerry clinched the last spot in the semi-finals, ousting Josh Gonsalves 6-1, 6-0.

Alexander Merry battled from a set down to secure his place in the last four of the Boys Under-12 Singles, edging Declan Sheppard 4-5, 4-1, 10-8. Tim Pasea also went the distance against Nathen Martin but held on for the result, 5-3, 0-4, 10-4.
