Trinidad and Tobago boxer Prince-Lee Isidore will make his return to the ring after a two-year break against Barbadian Shurwyn Marshall in the main event when an AIBA Open Boxing (AOB) Elite Card takes place at the Cosmic Boxing Gym in Marabella, from 7 pm, tonight.
Isidore and Marshall will headline an eight-bout card in an event hosted by ACTN TV, Cosmic Boxing Promotions and Fine Line Promotions. It will also be held under the patronage of Senator Daniel Dookie. The entrance fee is $50 for adults, while children Under-12 pay $25. Entertainment will also be part of the night’s activities.
Fight promoter Bharrath Ramoutar is anticipating Isidore’s return to the ring. “Prince-Lee is coming off a two-year hiatus. He has been training, but he has not been fighting, due to a lot of circumstances beyond our control. We are looking at this as a comeback fight for him and I have three fights planned for him before the year is done.”
The fight between Isidore and Marshall will be a super lightweight fight. Yesterday, at the weigh-in at the National Boxing Centre, Hasely Crawford Stadium, Isidore and Marshall weighed 140 and 138 pounds respectively.
Ramoutar expects Isidore to have a good showing tonight, but knows he is short of time in the ring. “I am expecting him to make quick work of this guy. Although he will have some ring rust, I think he could handle it well.”
Ramoutar said Marshall has been around for sometime and may prove to be a challenge. “Shurwyn Marshall is a bit of a veteran, he has been around a bit and he has quite a few tricks up his sleeve. He is a very cunning guy from what I know and saw of him already. He is not going to make it easy for Prince-Lee, he is going to pull out his bag of tricks.”
