Former Miss Trinidad and Tobago Yvonne Clarke, yesterday, sent a pre-action protocol letter to local Miss Universe franchise holder Jennifer Douglas seeking a copy of her (Clarke’s) contract. On Tuesday, Clarke was stripped of her crown and debarred from representing the country in the upcoming contest.

Donawa said that on October 31, Clarke received an e-mail, at about 2.21 am, from the Miss Universe T&T Committee advising that she had been disqualified from representing the country under the franchise due to her breach of the Miss Universe contract.

Donawa said, however, the e-mail did not articulate the precise nature of the breach.

Clarke did sign a document which purported to be the Miss Universe contractual agreement to represent TT on the night of winning the title. However, she was not given a copy of the contract. Donnwa said Clarke made several requests but to no avail. The letter called on the franchise holder to produce a copy of the signed contract by 4 pm yesterday. Failure to comply would result in an injunction being taken out in the High Court.
