Trinidad and Tobago men’s football team coach Dennis Lawrence has announced a squad of 24 players for a pair of friendly international matches, against Grenada (November 11 from 6 pm) and Guyana (November 14 from 7.30 pm), at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

The majority of this squad were named by Lawrence for the final two matches in the 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign, against Mexico (October 6) and United States (October 10) respectively. However, there is a debut call-up for Point Fortin Civic FC’s defensive midfielder Nathaniel Garcia, whose younger brother, the Dutch-based winger Levi Garcia, was also included in the forthcoming friendlies.

Making a return to the TT squad are central defender Sheldon Bateau, midfielders Hashim Arcia, Jared London and US-based Neveal Hackshaw, as well as the pair of Aubrey David (defender) and Jamille Boatswain (striker), who were both dropped by Lawrence ahead of the Mexico and US qualifiers for disciplinary reasons.

Lawrence, in a media release from the TT Football Association (TTFA) yesterday, reiterated that he is starting his team’s campaign to become a dominant force in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU).

“Our mission begins with the Caribbean and we will take it step by step from there,” said the TT coach.

Veteran midfielder Khaleem Hyland, who wore the captain’s armband against Mexico and the US, was excused from the forthcoming matches due to commitments with his Saudi Arabia-based club Al Faisaly FC.

Lawrence, who noted that the team will begin training on Monday, pointed out, “We want to continue where we left off versus Mexico and the United States, and end the year on a good note as we look ahead to the future.”

In related news, the TTFA had made a grand offer of “two games for the price of one”, with the tickets for the covered stand priced at $100 and uncovered $50, while children under the age of 12 will be admitted free.

Team – Adrian Foncette, Gregory Ranjitsingh, Glenroy Samuel (goalkeepers); Sheldon Bateau, Aubrey David, Curtis Gonzales, Triston Hodge, Alvin Jones, Josiah Trimmingham, Kevon Villaroel, Mekeil Williams (defenders); Hashim Arcia, Neil Benjamin, Levi Garcia, Nathaniel Garcia, Kevan George, Nathan Lewis, Jared London, Neveal Hackshaw, Kathon St Hillaire, Kevin Molino (midfielders); Jamille Boatswain, Akeem Roach, Shahdon Winchester (strikers).
