Let’s cultivate patriotism

THE EDITOR: MP Rodney Charles stated in Parliament that patriotism should be taught in schools.

Patriotism means love of one’s country. It is a natural feeling of the heart. There are, however, two types of patriotism:

* Wrong patriotism which must be condemned because it prompts us to make our country great by destroying other countries. Bad patriotism is bad for the world. We must love our land and not hate other nations.

* Healthy patriotism teaches us to love our country and make it happy, great and glorious. It is good for our country and the world.

We must cultivate it to develop ourselves wholeheartedly to the upliftment and prosperity of our country.

Congrats to Charles for mentioning the importance of patriotism.
