Indera Ragoo-Solomon, 30, of Mon Desir Road, Rousillac, was remanded into custody in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court yesterday. She had appeared before Senior Magistrate Cherril-Ann Antoine charged with four counts of fraud.

Ragoo-Solomon was arrested on Tuesday by Fraud Squad detectives in connection with their investigations into certain monetary transactions that had been reported to police.

Antoine, presiding in the court, read the four charges that were based on transactions alleged to have taken place between February and October 17 of this year. The first charge alleged that Ragoo-Solomon obtained $2,500 from a woman to secure a loan for her in the sum of $100,000 that was never received. The second charge alleged that Ragoo-Solomon obtained $15,000 from another person to secure a Housing Development Corporation (HDC) house.

The third charge alleged that she obtained $5,000 from another person as a down payment on a property. The fourth charge alleged that she obtained $20,000 from another victim. The matters were investigated by Police Constable Navin Lutchman and charges laid by WPC Jointe of the Fraud Squad, San Fernando. The charges were laid indictably and Ragoo-Solomon was not called upon to plead.
