Guns, drugs seized in South, Central

Separate anti-crime exercises between Wednesday night and yesterday morning in Point Fortin and Couva, resulted in the seizure of revolvers, ammunition and marijuana according to a release issued by the TTPS yesterday.

At about 1 pm on Wednesday afternoon, officers of the Point Fortin CID received a tip and visited Dam Bank Road, Egypt Village, Point Fortin, where they found a silver and black revolver and two rounds of .38 mm ammunition hidden inside a metal pipe. No arrests were made in connection with the find.

On Wednesday night, officers of the Couva Police Station arrested two men for possession of a Smith and Wesson revolver, 13 rounds of .38 ammunition and 40.6 grammes of marijuana.

According to the release, police in the California district observed the two men, aged 41 and 40, standing in the vicinity of the California Pentecostal Church.

The men attempted to flee the scene but were apprehended.

Both men are believed to be from the Southern Main Road, California.
