Royalians test for leaders Naps today

The inconsistent QRC will be the latest test for Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Premier Division leaders Naparima when the penultimate round of action, Round 14, takes place today.

This game will be contested at the QRC Ground in St Clair and a victory for Naparima will see them move just one step closer to dethroning Shiva Boys and claim the 2017 title.

Second-placed St Anthony’s will host third-placed Presentation San Fernando at Westmoorings while Shiva Boys will entertain Signal Hill at Morne Diablo.

Also on today’s agenda will be Trinity Moka against Carapichaima East at Moka in Maraval, Fatima against St Benedict’s at the Fatima Ground in Mucurapo; Trinity East versus St Mary’s at Trincity and San Juan North versus St Augustine at Bourg Mulatresse, San Juan.

All matches will start at 3.40 pm.

In related news, members of the SSFL executive met with officials of Shiva Boys concerning an alleged appeal raised by Fatima and QRC concerning Shiva’s midfielder Kierron Mason. It is alleged that Mason played for TT Super League team Marabella Family Crisis Centre in early September, in breach of the SSFL constitution. Shiva Boys were only issued a warning by the SSFL, to the dismay of both Fatima and QRC. SSFL president William Wallace, when contacted last evening, said, “There was a little issue with communication. The (initial) ruling wasn’t sent out to anybody except Shiva Boys. The ruling of the disciplinary committee was sent to both schools and an appeal may be forthcoming. The matter was deferred until an appeal comes forward,” he added.
