Rowley leaves Moses behind

Foreign and Caricom Affairs Minister Dennis Moses did not accompany Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley yesterday to the fourth Caricom-Mexico Summit which takes place in Belize today.

In a brief statement yesterday, the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) said Rowley will be accompanied instead by Foreign Service Officer Akilah Seale. This after Princes Town MP Barry Padarath on the weekend called on Rowley to send Moses to the summit and stay home instead to deal with the flooding crisis. Padarath accused Rowley of being a “hotfoot” and claimed this is his 18th official overseas trip as Prime Minister. On Monday, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart Young defended Rowley against Padarath’s claim saying,

“The Prime Minister is going in his official capacity to carry out official duties and to represent Trinidad and Tobago at a very important Caricom meeting.”
