Bullet-riddled body found

The bullet-riddled body of a man was found yesterday morning by Petit Valley residents. The man was later identified as Nigel Rudder, who was in his 20s and from the area.

Sources told Newsday that at about 6 am, a resident of Eagle Drive in Simeon Road was walking along the road en route to purchase newspapers when he saw Rudder’s body on the side of the road.

Police and emergency services were alerted. Officers from West End police station arrived and cordoned off the murder scene.

The District Medical Officer along with Crime Scene Investigators also visited the scene.

The DMO noted several bullet wounds to Rudder chest and stomach. The body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James where an autopsy is expected to be done today.

As there was very little blood on the road, police believe Rudder was shot elsewhere and his body dumped along Eagle Drive. Rudder is the 394th person murdered this year.

Up to press time, no arrest was made and investigations are continuing.
