An interactive event on World Food Day 2017; October 16, provided some of this country's future teachers with greater insight into the importance of food security.

Organised by the United Nations Association of TT (UNATT) and held at the Valsayn Campus of the University of TT, the event included discussions on proper nutrition, food production, agriculture, farming and healthy lifestyles.

UNATT Vice-President, Tyrone J Thomas, said participants also enjoyed samples of "nutritious food and fresh fruit juices" from Angelo Hart, a culinary student at the Trinidad and Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute while UTT Student and University of West Virginia Scholarship Recipient, Crystal Ettinne-Sandy, led "a very informative and lively interactive presentation on the essentials of agriculture preservation and farming".

UN World Food Day is celebrated annually in more than 150 countries. People around the world come together to declare their commitment to eradicate hunger from our lifetime and to raise awareness, as highlighted in UN Sustainable Development Goals to achieve Zero Hunger. This year's theme was Invest in Food Security and Rural Development.
