Mucurapo Ex-Pupils start well in Chips U-21 netball

Mucurapo Ex-Pupils made a brilliant start to the annual Chips Sports and Cultural Club Under-21 netball tournament.

The Ex-Pupils whipped the host team 39-14 when action got underway at the Eastern Regional Sporting Arena, Tacarigua, on Saturday last. And Horizon topped SPIHC 32-18 in the other game.

For Ex-Pupils, goal-shoot C Delegia scored 27 goals, goal-attack S MacQuain had nine and A Vialva added three, while D Sylvester scored 12 and M Byer chipped in with two for Chips. And Horizon got their goals from R Sandy who scored 18 and A Bethelmy 14.

The matches followed a colourful march past of the four competing teams __ Mucurapo, Horizon, SPIHC and Chips. Attending the opening ceremony were Sports Minister Darryl Smith, TT Netball Association president Dr Patricia Butcher and Chips founder Enid Browne, HBMS, a former national captain and coach. Minister Smith congratulated current Chips president Judith Ann Robertson-Daniel for her club’s work in the community, while Dr Butcher praised the club and founder founder for their contribution to netball and urged players to enjoy the competition and explore the vast opportunities netball has to offer. A special award was presented to Browne who founded Chips 32 years ago.

On Saturday, Mucurapo Ex-Pupils and Horizon will meet in a key fixture from 5 pm.
