Body found in shallow grave in Savonetta

Police have discovered the decomposed body of a man buried in a shallow grave in Phoenix Park, Savonetta.

According to a police report, at about 4 pm on Tuesday, police officers instructed hired grave diggers to dig an area in the mangrove. About three feet deep, the body of a man was discovered.

Investigators said the body was badly decomposed, however the District Medical Officer was able to point out what appeared to be a chop wound to the head of the body. An autopsy is expected to be conducted at the Forensic Science Centre in St James today.

Sgt Ali and Cpl Baboolal of the Couva Police Sation are continuing investigation.
