Police: Triple murder victims were innocent

Police say the patrons killed in Wednesday’s triple murder at a crowded bar in Marabella were innocent people.

The victims were Ruthven “Man Sandy” Sandy, 63, of Marabella, Michael Scott, 48, of Gasparillo and Casily Isaac, 60, of Marabella.

However, police said the killers’ intended target was Scott in retaliation for a crime committed by a relative. Police are working on information that the killers wanted to “send a message” to the relative, whom they had been searching for without luck.

Investigators said they are yet to confirm if the relative was a suspect in a new crime, possibly arson. He was released from prison where he served a term for another crime.

Police reports are that shortly after 11 pm on Wednesday, gunmen dressed in dark clothing ran into Caribbean Vibes Restaurant and Bar on the Southern Main Road, Marabella, and began firing wildly in the crowd. At the time, the bar was having karaoke night.

Patrons scampered for safety and when the shooting ended, Scott, a rigger and father of three, as well as Issac lay dead.

Sandy was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital where he died. Relatives said Sandy, also called “Rasta,” was a frequent patron and karaoke singer at the bar.

Police are yet to make an arrest into the killings.

Homicide Bureau (Region III), based in San Fernando, is continuing investigations.
