Bhagwansingh’s vault opened, cash gone

An undisclosed sum of cash secured in a vault at the Golden Grove and Churchill Roosevelt Highway branch of Bhagwansingh’s Hardware was discovered missing early yesterday by an assistant manager. A quantity of cell phones and garden equipment was also discovered stolen.

Police said that at 5 pm on Saturday the business place was secured and cash placed in the vault located in a room. At 7 am yesterday the assistant manager arrived for work and discovered a door leading to a room where the vault is, broken. A check was made and the vault was discovered open and the cash missing.

Officers of the Northern Division led by Snr Supt Michael Daniel and including ASP Mervyn Edwards, Insp Nigel Birch, Sgt Sean Ammon and others visited the scene. Several people including employees were questioned and statements recorded.

An audit is expected to be carried to ascertain how much money was stored in the vault. Police investigators believe that the robbery was an inside job and arrests are imminent.
