Gasparillo mother of two, Ria Indarsingh, was beaten to death. An autopsy on the 41-year old store clerk on Tuesday, showed she died from blunt cranial cerebral trauma.

Indarsingh’s bloodied body was discovered on the floor of her home last Saturday night by a male relative. The relative had picked up Indarsingh’s two children from C3 Centre, Tarouba, after she had failed to do so following an evening out at Movie Towne. Although the relative was assisting police in their investigations, no one has been detained in connection with what is now being deemed a homicide. Tentative arrangements have been made for her burial on Saturday.

Indarsingh was the aunt of eight-year-old Daniel Guerra, whose body was found in a drain at Tarouba back in 2011, days after he went to a nearby shop to purchase a drink. Two autopsies were done on his body. The first showed death was caused by drowning while the second found he suffered homicidal asphyxia.

A police officer, Darwin Ghouralal, who was said to be a friend of Guerra’s mother, was subsequently charged with the child’s murder but freed two and a half years later for lack of evidence. Indarsingh’s murder is one of three currently engaging the attention of Region Three Homicide and the Southern Division police.
