Pres Sando displace Shiva Boys atop SSFL standings

Presentation San Fernando has displaced Shiva Boys atop the standings in the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Premier Division, as Round Eight action took place yesterday.

Presentation San Fernando, who started the day in second spot, breezed past Speyside 3-0 at the Speyside Ground, with a double from Jaiye Sheppard and one from Darnell Hospedales.

But Shiva, who were top of the 16-team standings entering yesterday’s matches, fell to a 3-1 loss away to Trinity East. Kordell Sween, Tyrese Williams and Kishon Hackshaw netted for the hosts, while Judah Garcia, brother of national winger Levi, getting the consolation for the 2016 winners.

The game was originally carded for the David Williams Recreation Ground at Lachoos Road, Penal, was moved by the SSFL due to complaints over the safety of the venue and unfit facilities.

Naparima were third on the table and remained in that spot, after they battled to an exciting 3-3 draw versus St Benedict’s at Lewis Street, San Fernando.

St Anthony’s moved up two places to second after drubbing hosts Trinity Moka 6-2 while San Juan North remained as the only unbeaten team after brushing aside Fatima 3-0 at Bourg Mulatresse.

Signal Hill earned only their second win of the season with a 2-0 result away to Carapichaima East while St Augustine took care of the struggling QRC by a 3-1 margin at the QRC Ground, St Clair.

The match between Fyzabad and St Mary’s, which was carded for Fyzabad, did not play.

League action will continue on Saturday.
