Thirty-one members of the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica, graduating medical class of August 1982, and their spouses, celebrated their 35th anniversary reunion in Trinidad.

The group sampled local cuisine, culture and also explored several places that even some Trinis in the group had not visited previously.

Sixteen graduates are now eight married couples and a study done by graduates –Professor K Vaughan and M Samms-Vaughn– in 2007 showed that two-thirds of them continue to work in the region, 25 years after graduation. Among them is TT’s Dr Peter Poon-King, physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist who helped organise the reunion.

Achievements recognised by the class included three who became members of Parliament –Dr Jerome Walcott (Barbados); Dr Morais Guy, Jamaica and Dr Fuad Khan, TT.
