One dead, three critical in crash

A 29-year-old man died in a car accident in Santa Cruz yesterday morning. The man has been identified as Kiandey Saunders.

According to reports, officers of the Santa Cruz Police Station got a report of an accident along La Sagesse Road, Santa Cruz. When police arrived they saw the wrecked car at the side of the road with three occupants. Police officers alerted the Emergency Health Hervices but it was too late for Saunders, as he died at the scene.

The other two occupants were taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where they are said to be in a critical condition.

Sources told Newsday that Saunders and the other two occupants had left a lime in Santa Cruz before the car was discovered.

Another man was also hospitalised in a separate road accident on Sunday night, which occurred at about 10 pm. He has not yet been identified.

Reports say that the driver was on the west-bound lane of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, and was trying to enter the turn-off to get onto the interchange, when he hit the barrier, at such a great speed that his car flipped and landed on its hood.
