Queen’s Park to stage annual Women’s Football Fund-raiser

Queen’s Park Cricket Club will be staging its third annual Score 4Cancer Women’s Football Fund-raiser Tournament, on October 8, at the Queen’s Park Oval, St Clair.

This tournament will be held under the auspices of the Cricket Club’s Ladies Members and Score 4Cancer Committees.

Action will run from 10 am until 6 pm and the purpose of this event is to raise cancer awareness in women.

This fundraiser initiative, by the aforementioned committees, is to lend support to the awareness of this dreaded disease which, not only affects women, but the general population at large. Each year, proceeds of this event go towards a selected cancer organisation or individual.

The Women’s Cancer Unit in St James has been the 2015 and 2016 recipient of proceeds which assisted in upgrades to the facility. The Just Because Foundation Children’s Cancer Unit at the Mt Hope Hospital is the targeted 2017 beneficiary.

Zion Pinder, a seven-year-old who suffers with a brain tumour and spends most of his time at the Just Because Foundation Children’s Cancer Unit, has been adopted by the Score 4Cancer Committee and will also benefit from the proceeds of this year’s fund-raiser, to assist with his day-to-day medical expenses.
