“Missing” couple returns from London today

Visually impaired Harold Howard, 82, and his wife Gloria, 70, of Southern Main Road, La Romaine, who were reported as “missing persons” but later found to be comfortable in a hotel all the way in Manchester, London, are expected to return home today.

The couple “disappeared” from their home last Thursday and boarded a flight for London without informing any relatives. Police said they would visit the pensioners to ensure all is well with them.

“But we can’t take any action against them because they did nothing wrong,” said one of the investigators.

On Monday, panic stepped after the elderly couple could not be found. Their son Oliver who was home on vacation, reported them missing to San Fernando Police Station and a desperate search began for them. He was forced to miss his flight back to Philadelphia.

Photographs of the couple went viral on social media asking for persons to contact the nearest police station if they see them. Reports said they were last seen boarding a taxi around 1 pm on Saturday.

Late on Tuesday afternoon, police were contacted by a travel agency and informed that the “missing persons” had boarded a flight at 6.05 pm last Thursday bound for London. Further checks revealed that they were at a hotel.
