Finance Ministry, UWI host Valuation closing ceremony

The Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the University of the West Indies (The UWI) Faculty of Engineering, will host a closing ceremony this Thursday for graduands of the Valuation Assessors and Supervisors training programme.

In a statement issued today, the ministry said the ceremony will be for "Valuation Assessors and Supervisors who will be engaged in the valuation of properties across Trinidad and Tobago."

The training programme was developed by the Department of Geomatics Engineering and Land Management, based on the request of the Valuation Division of the Ministry of Finance, consisted of eight modules.

Namely: Legal Studies; Valuation Context and Principles; Surveying and Mapping; Building Construction; Ethics; Health and Safety; Customer Service and Office Etiquette; General Economics and Economics of Property.

Geomatics is the branch of science that deals with the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data relating to the earth's surface.

The graduation ceremony is scheduled to take place from 9 am to 11.30 am at the Faculty of Engineering, Lecture Theatre 1, Max Richards Building, The UWI, St Augustine Campus.

"Professor Brian Copeland, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Campus Principal, Michelle Durham-Kissoon, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Ric Javed Ali, Commissioner of Valuations, will deliver remarks and present Certificates of Completion to successful participants of the programme," the ministry stated.
