MVP Pierre gets TV

Wednesday, August 29 2007

DEFENCE FORCE captain Anton Pierre was named the Courts MVP for round two of the TT Pro League and received a 21 inch flat screen television courtesy Courts (Trinidad) Limited.

The Army-Coast Guard defender has been a stalwart in defence leading his team from a lowly ninth position in the league earlier this season to a respectable third place. His reliability and exemplary performance during round two has earned him the coveted “Player of the Round” title.

Pierre expressed gratitude to Courts for their involvement in the Pro League. “What they have done is create something extra for the young players to look forward to,” said the 31-year-old. He challenged the young players in the league to step up to such an achievement.

“It’s not about wanting to win a TV” the powerfully-built defender explained.

“To receive such an award is just a great feeling for any player.”

He also praised the effort of his teammates and coach Kerry Jamerson. The veteran footballer pointed out that this season the team has come together and “everybody is playing for each other.”

Pierre said, “as captain I always felt that I had to be outstanding, but what I felt helped me personally this season is knowing that the team came together and everybody is playing for each other.”

The Courts round one MVP was Caledonia AIA midfielder Marvin Oliver.
