Ramkaran’s century guides Renown to victory

Saturday, May 18 2013

AN UNBEATEN knock of 106 from Kevin Ramkaran handed Renown Sports Club an emphatic 99-run win over Rochard Road over the weekend, as the 2013 Barrackpore Sports Association Twenty20 hard-ball competition continued in Carat Hill.

Batting first, Renown powered to an almost unattainable target of 206 for the loss of just one wicket. Ramkaran led the charge while Vinod Siew slammed 66 and Rikson Maniram also chipped in with his unbeaten 22.

Rochard Road in reply never seemed to settle and quickly whittled away for 107, due to an impressive spell of three wickets for 30 from Roger Seenath. Shane Sudama was their top scorer with 37.

In other matches, Karran Sports were also steered to a convincing 150-run victory over X-Men Sports Club. They were led by an unbeaten century from Tony Ramdass. Karran Sports batted first and piled on 193 for two with Ramdass top scoring and Miguel Bernard remaining on 29 not out.

In their turn at the crease, X-Men SC were dismantled for just 43. Narenlal Seenath did most of the damage bagging four for 10 runs.

Additionally, Unknown romped to a seven-wicket win over Rockhouse United. The former batted first and got to 138 for five. Krishna Maharaj led the charge with his knock of 75 while S Jaikaran snatched two for 18.

However, consistent knocks from D Samuel (55) and A Buckredan (38) carried Unknown to a victorious 140 for three.
