Karan Sports clobber All Stars

TWO spectacular spells from Harripersad Bridgelal (4/30) and Amit Lutchmipersad (3/27) steered Karan Sports to an emphatic 197-run win over All Stars when the ninth round of the RS Sport Association 30 Over competition continued at several grounds throughout the Penal/ Debe area last week.

Batting first, Karan Sports amassed a total of 257 runs for the loss of seven, due to half century knocks from Rajin Kunjbeharry (63) and Bridgelal (58). bagging wickets for All Stars were Amrit Boodram (3/50) and Kumar Sahadeo (2/35).

In their turn at the crease, All Stars were dismissed for a paltry 60 runs, due to precise spells of Bridgelal and Lutchmipersad. Rudy Paradise topped the batting on 15.

Meanwhile, two half centuries from Vinod Persad (71) and Avinash Hajaree (68) produced a 153-run win for their club SKG Sports against Spoilers. SKG Sports batted first and were led to a strong total of 266 for nine by Persad and Hajaree. Sheran Baptiste was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/44 while Inool Khan bagged 2/36.

Spoilers in reply, were whittled away for 131 after just 19 overs. Ron Ramnauth slammed a vain 51 while Shereen Baptiste scored 21. Stefon Hajaree was the best bowler bagging three wickets for eight runs while Dylan Seurattan snatched three for 35.

In the Twenty20 version of the competition, Oropouche South’s Desmond Mohammed slammed 90 to give his team a well-deserved seven-wicket win over Woodland. The latter batted first and got to 151 for five after 20 overs. Marlon Partapsingh was the best bowler taking 2/28.

In their turn at the crease, the south-based team raced to a victorious 153 for three in 12 overs. Mohammed slammed 90 and Brendon Sirju got 31. Andre Bunsee scored 36 while Ramesh Gobin hit 30. Daniel Ragbir took 2/28.
