Mixed fortunes for Achievers in T20

ACHIEVERS bounced back from a six-wicket defeat hours before pulling off an eight-wicket win over UWI in their Trinidad and Tobago Women’s Cricket Association (TTWCA) Championship Division T20 matches at the UWI Ground, St Augustine on Sunday.

The home team taking first strike were restricted to 73 for nine off their 20 overs with Anastasia Herbert top scoring with 30. Caneisha Isaac who made 10, was the only other batter into double digits. Sherizza Weekes 2/13, Nadia Mohammed 2/15, Rosemary Samaroo 2/18 were the main wicket takers.

In their turn at the crease the visitors romped home to 77 for the loss of two wickets with five overs and a ball to spare. Monica Ragoo and Nadia Mohammed who saw their team to victory led the way with 29 and 15 runs respectively. In the first match they went down to San Rafael Ladies by six wickets. Batting first Achievers were restricted to 81 for eight off their allotted overs with Melissa Ramjit 17, Shereen Ramkissoon 11 and Riana Farrow 10. Brenda Solozano was the pick of the bowlers with three for 14 while Reniece Boyce had two for 11 and Tramaine Edwards two for 12.

In reply San Rafael reached 82 for four from in 18 overs with Makeni Thomas top scoring with 20. Sharika Sinnanan and Christine Bolah saw their team home as they were unbeaten on 17 and 13.
