Westside remain Super League leaders

Friday, August 10 2012

WESTSIDE SUPERSTARZS remained as the leaders of the 2012 Blink/Bmobile National Super League despite the abandonment of their Match Day Nine meeting against WASA FC last Sunday.

The game was called off by the match officials at half-time due to a water-logged field at the WASA Ground, St Joseph.

Joe Public failed to take advantage of Westside’s misfortune as they lost 1-0 to Stokely Vale FC at the Plymouth Recreation Ground, courtesy of a second minute item from Rundel Winchester.

Real Maracas moved from seventh place to fifth despite a 2-2 draw against Defence Force at the Maracas Recreation Ground, St Joseph.

The visitors took the lead after three minutes through Kayode Thomas but the Mejias duo of Isaiah and Renaldo responded, in the tenth and 38th minutes respectively.

Defence Force ensured a share of the points when Dexter Thornhill evened up the scores, on the stroke of half-time.

At Canaan, Bon Accord, 1976 FC Phoenix got a last minute winner from Andel Noray to edge FC Santa Rosa 3-2.

Darrin Mitchell (14th) and Lejandro Williams (27th) gave Phoenix a 2-0 advantage before Santa Rosa replied with strikes from Danilo Silva (40th) and Simba Aberdeen (45th).

But Noray’s last minute strike guaranteed full points for Phoenix.

Club Sando whipped the table-proppers Biche United 3-0 at the Biche Recreation Ground, with Jason Boodram (58th), Sylvester Teesdale (85th) and Keston London (90th) getting their names on the scoresheet.

The day’s other game saw Siparia Spurs earn a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Eagles United at the Homelands Gardens Recreation Ground, Chaguanas.

Ian James put Eagles in front after 11 minutes before Siparia replied with strikes from Nathaniel Garcia (70th) and Jesse Edwards (72nd).

League action continues on August 12.
