Cricket symposium heads to NE ZoneFriday, August 3 2012
THE Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) is moving full steam ahead with its series of public consultations in its effort to solicit feedback on the administration of the sport at a local and regional level.
The initiative was launched last month and the TTCB executive, headed by its president Azim Bassarath is keen to ensure that all stakeholders get an opportunity to voice their concerns and offer suggestions.
At the first consultation staged at the Preysal High School, discussions centred on problems faced by umpires and officials who were given the assurance that efforts were being made to address their concerns.
And at the second hosted by the North Zonal Council at Tranquillity Secondary School in Port-of-Spain, clubs were vocal in the difficulties they faced in playing on the Queen’s Park Savannah.
And the issue of indiscipline of cricketers was again raised and the suggestion was made that a card system similar to what is employed in football could be adopted to stem the tide.
The next session is carded for Saturday (August 4) at Northeastern College, Sangre Grande starting at 3 pm while the discussions return to Central Trinidad on Sunday (August 5) from 9.30 am at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva.
On Monday (August 6), South East Zone will host a symposium from 5.30 pm at the Tableland Secondary School in Tableland while on Tuesday (August 7), the South Zone will convene at the Naparima Boys College in San Fernando from 5 pm.
Discussions continue on Saturday when the East Zone play hosts at the El Dorado East Secondary School from 1 pm and the consultations will end on Tuesday, August 14 in the South West Zone at the Rousillac Community Centre.
Arjoon Ramlal, general secretary of the TTCB said yesterday that the contributions of all who attend the series of symposiums will be noted and will form the basis of a development plan in an effort to address all the concerns of the major stakeholders.
He said everyone with an interest in cricket should not miss the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution and have their voices heard.
