Husbands continues fine form, lands tripleFriday, August 3 2012
ACE Barbados-born jockey Patrick Husbands continued his brilliant riding form on the Canadian circuit, particularly his base at Woodbine racecourse.
The six-time Sovereign Award winner had another hat-trick of wins on the eight-race Woodbine card on Wednesday.
Victory in the three races took Husbands to a season total of 78 winners at the top of the jockeys standings, six more than defending champion Luis Contreras.
He started the day guiding Larboard Lady first past the post in a race for three-year-old fillies and mares over 1 1/16 miles with a purse of Can $28,900.
But he had to wait until the sixth frame for his second success, this time aboard Uncle Carm.
Husbands pushed the three-year-old to victory in a six furlong race valued Can$26,400.
His third success came astride Vino Del Toro in the day’s feature, a Can$51,400 six furlongs event for three-year-olds and upward.
While Husbands was landing his three victories, main challenger Contreras (72 winners) had a blank day on Wednesday.

Other Caribbean jockeys also failed to score on Wednesday, leaving Trinidadian Richard Dos Ramos best of the lot on 11 winning rides.
