Police handcuff Diego Martin

POLICE TROUNCED Diego Martin 92-63 on Saturday, in the Men First Division, as the North Zone Basketball Commission (NZBC) 2012 season continued at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex, Mucurapo.

Police, who held a comfortable 42-21 half-time advantage, got 14 points from Phillip Alexander and 12 from Hainsley Modeste, while Roger Lewis had a game-high 29 for Diego Martin.

There was a Men Second Division battle, with Mt Hope Spurs blanking Trailblazers 87-69.

Mt Hope, who had a 40-37 lead at the midway stage of the game, were led by Martinez Holder’s 19 and Bevon Julien’s 18. Trailblazers got 16 from W Andrews and 11 from Juvani Andrews.

Defence Force had a 39-17 second half run to spank Diego All Stars 70-38. Crystal Ann George was the chief destroyer for Defence Force with 23 while Jody Sprott offered support with 12. Latisha Pitt had eight for Diego All Stars. Millenium Basketball Academy were in a dominant mood, clawing Hawks 79-49.

Millenium, who were comfortably ahead 30-16 at the interval, were guided by 16 from Christian Arthur and 14 from Jonathan Weekes. Hawks got 12 from Darion Gonzales and 10 from Nicholi Allard.

Action continues today with a quartet of matches at the Jean Pierre Complex.

In the Women Under-19, Brian Chase will tackle Hill Girls followed by a 5 pm meeting, in the Women Division, between Horizon and Brian Chase.

The day will conclude with Men First Division contests, with Diego All Stars facing Shaq Attack at 6.30 pm and UTT battling Defence Force at 8 pm.
