CONGRESS of the People MP and Minister of Sport Anil Roberts yesterday launched a broadside against his political leader Prakash Ramadhar, criticising him for the party’s reaction to the demolition of a protest site in Debe.

Speaking with reporters after the launch of a police public relations drive at Independence Square, Port-of-Spain, Roberts said he is amazed that Ramadhar has not claimed responsibility for a statement issued in the name of the COP in which the COP criticised National Security Minister Jack Warner for calling in troops to demolish the site.

“I would love to know if my party’s headquarters is moving from Charlieville to St Ann’s,” Roberts said, referring to the St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital.

He criticised COP member Nalini Dial for her criticism of Warner saying Dial has no credibility for speaking on human rights issues after she coldly criticised former San Fernando Mayor Marlene Coudray when Coudray was still mourning the death of her daughter. Coudray was made Minister of Gender, Youth and Child Development in last week’s Cabinet reshuffle.

Roberts said the Sport Ministry would be working with Warner to fight crime through several community sport programmes.
