“WAIT FOR me, Danny. I am coming to meet you!” This was the cry of Sally Bissoon at the funeral of her husband who was allegedly killed by their 23-year-old son last Sunday at the family home in Debe.

As she wept, Bissoon held onto the casket as mourners placed it in the hearse for it to be taken from the house of mourning to the Diamond Evangelistic Centre Church. “Danny worked so hard to build this house. He worked so hard to provide for us,” she cried. Bissoon’s daughter Carrie, in paying tribute to him, told mourners he had a passion for life. “He was the perfect father and lived every day for the Lord,” Carrie said as she wiped away tears.

Anita Ramnarine, who read the eulogy, described Bissoon as an ambitious, loving man who was committed to his family. “He did everything to provide for the needs of his family. Most important was to create a new environment for Christopher (his son). He never gave up hope of saving his son,” she said.

Christopher Bissoon appeared earlier this week in court charged with stabbing his father to death and was remanded to the St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital for evaluation by a magistrate. The case has been adjourned. Ramnarine described Bissoon as a man who was always smiling and happy.

Officiating Pastor Joel Bhagoutie told mourners that death was simply separation of body and spirit. “We all must die but Danny’s greatest achievement was that he gave his life to his Lord. The only one who conquered death was Jesus and because he lives, we shall live also,” Bhagoutie said.

Several pastors from different districts also offered words of encouragement to the bereaved family.
