FOR a second time in as many months, parents of pupils at the San Fernando Boys’ Government School yesterday picked up their placards in protest after they learnt an annex will not be built anytime soon.

Six parents stood outside the school demanding that the annex — which was expected to house a computer room, a library and a music room — be constructed.

They said they were told that construction on the annex was expected to start in July.

In an immediate response yesterday, the Education Ministry said it agreed to construct a two storey annex to accommodate five senior classrooms, a diagnostic testing room, a cafeteria, an auditorium, an administrative area for the principal’s office, a sick bay and staff room, science and technology room, an audio visual room, a computer room, an arts and craft room, a library, a pan theatre, and a music room.

The ministry said a contract has been awarded to the Palo Seco Agriculture Enterprises Ltd, which has submitted a cost for the project and this is being reviewed by the ministry’s quantity surveyor.

A meeting is expected to be held at the school next week.
