A cellphone containing graphic images of an 11-year-old girl performing sexual acts on herself is now in the hands of the police.

Following a report made to the Siparia Police Station on Tuesday night, officers visited a house in Fyzabad and seized the cellphone containing the video images.

The child has not been removed from the home.

A woman is now assisting police with their investigations which they said is at a sensitive stage.

According to a police report, a woman was going through her friend’s cellphone and found video images of the girl performing sexual acts on herself.

A woman, believed to be a relative of the girl, was heard in the background instructing the child on how to “do it”, the report further stated.

The friend immediately reported the matter to the police.

Police believe the filming took place in a bedroom at the girl’s home. She was naked and lying on a bed, police said.

The female relative has since been interviewed by the police.

An officer who viewed the video described it as “sickening”.

“The woman video-taped (the) child and you can hear her in the background telling the girl what to do. You could imagine a (woman) giving instructions to (a child) telling her how to perform indecent acts on herself.”

Sgt Mungroo and WPC Augustine of the Fyzabad Police Station are conducting enquiries.
