WAYNE Bando, of Upper Laventille Road, East Dry River, Port-of-Spain, fears he will lose his house because of the shoddy work on a retaining wall, being done by the East Port-of-Spain Development Project.

Bando told Newsday the project began in February, and was abandoned over a month ago by the contractors charged with constructing the retaining wall.

He said if the wall is not completed, his house could collapse as the area is prone to landslides.

“I can’t deal with this anymore because it is long that I have been trying to tolerate the situation. Why start something and not bother to finish it?” asked Bando.

“I am worried. I contacted some workers and they said they were unable to carry out further work on the retaining wall because they did not receive any payments for the previous months in which they worked, and also they had no materials to finish the job,”Bando said.

He said before the project began, the bank on which his house lies was sturdy, but after the contractors began to build the retaining wall, there were a few landslides Several attempts were made to contact officials at the East Port-of-Spain Development Company, but messages left were not returned.
