THE EDITOR: Muslims have begun to observe the month of “Ramadan” which means “Excessive Heat”. It is the ninth month in which Allah made it incumbent to fast.

It is a great and blessed month of patience, reward and commiseration with our fellowmen and where a believer’s faith is enhanced.

Ramadan has three parts of ten days each. The first ten days bring Allah’s mercy; the next, His forgiveness and the last ten days — emancipation from hell.

In Ramadan four things must be performed —two to please God in bearing witness that there is no deity to worship but Allah and beg Him for forgiveness.

The two which cannot be done by us are to beseech Him to enter paradise and to seek His protection from hell.

During Ramadan there is a special night called “Lailatus Order” — a night for great blessings and spiritual virtue. A night greater than 83 months and better than a thousand months. Ramadan brings thousands of bounties and blessings.

The Qur’an was revealed in this month. Angels and the “Spirit” descend by God’s permission on this night. Worship in this month burns away traces of sin in man.
