Gibbs’ golden handshake

Friday, August 3 2012

THE EDITOR: A public servant working for $6,000 a month would have to work 23.4 years to earn $1,684,557.33 before taxes. Gibbs gets $1,684,557.33 as a, before tax, three year contract closer, Ewatski a 1,590,073.33 handshake. That’s earning equity TT style for you.

In essence Gibbs did 23.4 years of work normally done by a police constable when he packed his bags and resigned.

Commenting on the sudden dual resignations of Commissioner of Police Gibbs and Deputy Ewatski, Ex-CoP Philbert made the personal revelation that the job of top cop is easy. Ex-CoP Philbert is right. The job of CoP can be summed up into two parts. Firstly a TT commissioner of police must have the ability to follow instructions issued down by the state without question, treating them as if they were his/her own commands.

Secondly, the CoP must see to it that productive citizens are soundly disarmed to prevent the success of any uprising springing from the more intelligent clusters within their class base.

That poorly productive citizens bear arms are of non-effect since their purpose for use of arms is not to threaten the establishment but to wrestle their own class for turf, drugs, women, status, sneakers and clothing kits and to strike fear into the semi-intelligent productive labouring forces.

This fear drives them to seek out rescue from the state, which give it stronger reason to tax them and relieve them of their rights and freedoms under the pretense that money collected and rights and freedoms stripped away from them will bolster their protection.
